Originating possibly from India or Turkey, the ancient game of Dama has been a part of Kuwaiti heritage brought back by our grandparents through trade and mutual visits. Played on a squared checkerboard with 64 squares (8 rows × 8 columns), Dama is a traditional two-player game.
In this iPhone application, players can engage in a match against the iPhone's Artificial Intelligence. The game is divided into two teams, each comprising 16 'Hatabah' (soldiers) distinguished by their respective colors, such as yellow and black or any other chosen hues.
A classic pastime, Dama involves positioning the teams on a square matrix resembling a cloth, with all Hatabah representing troops. The objective is for each team to strategically advance towards the opponent to reach the back row of the grid. Upon reaching the last row of the opposing team's side, the Hataba is promoted to a 'Sheikh' with enhanced abilities.
Gameplay includes tactical moves where Sheikh Hatabah can move multiple squares forward, backward, right, or left to 'capture' enemy soldiers positioned in its path.
